The most powerful engine that could be ordered from a Chevrolet dealer in 1966 was the 427 cubic inch V8. Many of these engines found their way into "sleepers" like this, an otherwise plain car that looked like it was best suited to take the family to church on Sunday. Many of these cars found their way police pursuit service or street and strip racers. The "427 Flags" on the fender were the only giveaway and more than one street racer replaced them with the standard 327 or other V8 emblems. The switch only fooled you once.
