Cars at Carlise and the Grand Sport Registry came together to present the largest collection of Chevrolet Grand Sport Corvettes ever assembled. 1000 of these cars were produced and of that number more than 100 In 1996 Chevrolet released the "Grand Sport" Corvette as a special model. Most obvious is the Grand Sport's Admiral Blue body with wide white center racing stripe. Two red hash marks are on the driver side front fender above the front wheel. These marks are reminiscent of color tape used on the front cowl of 1963 Grand Sport racers to help identify the cars as they passed the pits at high speeds.

The Grand Sport included a redsign of the then current "LT1" small block V8 used in the C4. The engine changes raised horsepower to 330 at 5,800 RPM. This special engine had red spark plug wires, red intake mainfold and red Corvette and Grand Sport lettering on the manifold and throttle body cover. This engine was named the "LT4" and was only available with a manual transmission in the Grand Sport.
